The hard stuff makes the best stories

'This week's challenge to help you hone your writing skills, so you can get well-paying freelance writing work from across the web.'

By now, in this May challenge, you’ve written something personal and something punchy. You’re stretching your voice in the best ways.

This week, it’s time to go inward.

View of the ocean and waves on the beach. This challenge is sponsored by Kit, my favorite platform for starting a writer-friendly newsletter. It's free to start, easy to use, and built for people who want to grow an audience by writing

Your Challenge: Write something reflective and emotionally honest—share a lesson, a mistake, or a hard-won insight, even if (especially if, there were tears involved).

You could talk about a breakup with your job, your parents, your partner or losing a pet.  Anything that has you writing the real, raw you that’s inside your head.

For example (from my own personal experience):

“There was a time when I quit writing because I didn’t have anything I felt was worth saying. Turned out I was suffering from menopause mind mush syndrome.  Here’s what got me started again.”

Let it simmer. You don’t have to publish it—just write it like it matters.

P.S. If you want paid writing work that also matters, check out this week’s listings: 👉 https://www.freelancewritersonline.com/paid-freelance-writing-opportunities

All the best.
